Revista do Ministério Público do Estado do Rio de Janeiro
Presentation
The Revista do Ministério Público, currently affiliated with the Roberto Bernardes Barroso Institute of Education of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), was established in 1966. Over time, it has undergone several transformations and developments. Its purpose is to promote periodical publications open to the public on legal topics. Since its creation, the journal has gone through a number of important stages:
The journal was established by Decree "E" No. 1,174, of August 2, 1966, under the title Revista de Direito do Ministério Público do Estado da Guanabara, serving as the cultural publication of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the former State of Guanabara. Between 1967 and 1974, twenty issues (Nos. 1-20) were published, distributed nationwide free of charge. Its purpose was to provide a forum for a broad range of legal studies and to serve as a reference source not only for members of the Public Prosecutor's Office but also for judges and lawyers.
In 1975, following the merger of the State of Guanabara with the State of Rio de Janeiro, the second phase of the publication began, and the journal was renamed Revista de Direito da Procuradoria-Geral de Justiça do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. From 1975 to 1990, thirty-two volumes (Nos. 1-32) were published, maintaining nationwide cir=culation and free distribution, while continuing its mission of disseminating legal knowledge.
In 1995, the third phase of the publication was launched, and the journal became known as the Revista do Ministério Público. In 1998, it was designated an Official Repository of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and, subsequently, in 1999, an Official Repository of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). Between 1995 and 2014, fifty-four volumes (Nos. 1-54) were published, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the dissemination of legal scholarship.
Pursuant to Article 168 of Supplementary Law No. 106/2003, the journal retained its status as an official cultural publication and became the official dissemination vehicle of the Institution, in verbis:"Art. 168 - A sua Revista, como órgão de divulgação cultural do Ministério Público do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, permanece mantida na estrutura da Procuradoria-Geral de Justiça."
Since 2015, a new editorial phase has been underway, with the journal renamed the Revista do Ministério Público do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. From issue No. 55 onwards, the publication has continued to fulfill its founding mission of disseminating scientific knowledge and contributing to legal debate.
Currently, the Journal is classified as B2 in the CAPES Qualis ranking for the 2021-2024 evaluation period, the system used to assess the scientific output of graduate programs through publications in scholarly journals. Plataforma Sucupira
